Radiographic Testing (RT)

X-ray and gamma-ray weld examination — AELB licensed radiation operations across Malaysia and Brunei.

What is RT?

Radiographic Testing in O&G

RT uses ionizing radiation (X-rays or gamma rays) to produce images of the internal structure of components, revealing porosity, inclusions, cracks and lack of fusion in welds.

PetroNDT holds AELB radiation licenses. We use Iridium-192 (Ir-192) gamma sources for field and offshore work, and X-ray for controlled environments.

How It Works

Inspection Process

01

Safety Exclusion Zone

Establish radiation safety zone and position source and film/detector.

02

Exposure

Expose film or digital detector for calculated time based on source activity and material thickness.

03

Film Processing

Process radiographic film or acquire digital image.

04

Interpretation

Qualified Level II/III interpreter evaluates the radiograph against acceptance criteria.

05

Report Issue

Issue RT report with image reference, findings and accept/reject status.
