Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

High-precision internal flaw detection and wall thickness measurement by ASNT Level II certified inspectors.

What is UT?

Ultrasonic Testing in Oil & Gas

UT uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws in metallic components and measure material thickness. Equipment can detect flaws as small as 1mm and measure wall thickness to ±0.1mm accuracy.

PetroNDT inspectors are ASNT Level II certified and perform UT to ASME Section V, API 570, API 510, and AWS D1.1.

How It Works

Inspection Process

01

Surface Preparation

Clean surface, apply couplant gel for acoustic contact.

02

Probe Selection

Select frequency and type based on material and expected defect.

03

Scanning

Move probe systematically, recording amplitude and time-of-flight.

04

Defect Analysis

Determine location, size and orientation of any discontinuities.

05

Reporting

Issue detailed UT report with scan data and accept/reject status.
