Radiography Interpretation

Level II/III interpretation of radiographic film and digital images to ASME, API and AWS acceptance standards.

What is RT Interpretation?

Radiographic Film Interpretation

Radiographic Interpretation is the skilled reading and evaluation of radiographic images to identify, classify and accept or reject weld discontinuities against applicable code acceptance criteria.

PetroNDT provides dedicated RT interpretation by ASNT Level II and Level III certified interpreters — both for our own RT operations and as a third-party service for client film archives and digital images.

How It Works

Inspection Process

01

Image Quality Check

Verify IQI (penetrameter) sensitivity meets code requirements before interpretation.

02

Density Verification

Check film density is within acceptable range using densitometer.

03

Systematic Examination

Evaluate radiograph systematically from left to right, identifying all indications.

04

Classification

Classify each indication by type, location, size and orientation.

05

Accept/Reject Decision

Compare findings against applicable code acceptance criteria and issue report.
